On February 8th, 2026, we hosted a knitting session with senior citizens. Led by our guest, the Israeli Ambassador’s Spouse, we were introduced to Worry Dolls. There is a tradition that says that when you tell these dolls your worries, and then sleep with them under your pillow, they will bear the stress for you instead.
Despite having senior citizens who were both completely new to knitting or experienced in the craft, it was a very rewarding experience to be able to sit and teach them how to recreate each stitch one by one. This event also taught patience, as the first few beginning stitches were very difficult to get familiar with, but it all eventually formed into a unique worry doll. This initial knitting class also led to the opening of a new Knitting Club, open to not only senior citizens but all age groups; something that I am interested in joining as well.
